RyeBrye has done it again! This time he spent a bit more time and has hacked together a method of bringing multitouch to the GUI instead of just in a huge debug file. He took the fingerpaint example provided with Android and told it how to read a second finger. This allows him to show 2 fingers “painting” at once. Read more and watch the video on >RyeBrye.com Blog. Keep in mind, its very choppy because this is NOT how the second finger touches are supposed to be read, but it was the best he could do without massive coding.
RyeBrye seems to have found proof that multitouch does infact exist on the G1. After some testing he was able to enable some basic multitouch output in the source and find out just how far 2 fingers can stretch while making swirls on a small piece of glass. His results can be read on >his blog (and hopefully he will put them in the wiki soon *hint hint*)
A user (known as AtomicDryad here, Fnord elsewhere) has created a method to update to RC30 and still keep root. The details are scattered across multiple forum threads and have recently been simplified (a little) and added to our >wiki.
This just in! We have just received the RC30 update zip file (from googles site) and have added it to the >wiki. If you are brave and want to install it, go check it out. We do know that is removes the bug that gives us a root console, so do not install it if you are having fun playing around with root on your G1. Thanks to JesusFreke for finding it and submitting it to us (well, XDA-Developers to be more exact).
