So I decided to start a thread on movies for the Android (T-Mobile G1), inspired by the success of many other threads on Warez-BB.Org and other forums for ready converted movies for devices like the iPhone/iPod/Zune/Zen/BlackBerry etc.

I really like what the guys are doing on the 'Ultimate iPod Thread', well done, good luck with your thread.



Im not starting this thread because I hate Apple iPods or anything like that. The iPod/iPhone is a brilliant piece of Gadget, i have nothing against it. As you may already know that the Android (T-Mobile G1) also known as the 'HTC Dream' is the No. 1 selling gadget of 2008, and may beat the iPhone in sales by 2012/13. Now the G-Phone only seems to play MPEG-4 H.264 Coded videos, although I have heard WMV also plays but i haven't tried it yet. I have tried dozens of movies converted for the iPod/iPhone because it also uses the same codec, but all of them seem to fail, mainly because the resolution are different for both devices, and won't work on the G-Phone.






Now as you already know, the G-Phone does not come with a Video Player by default, but there are couple available on the 'Market'.

The two that I recommend are :

- nswPlayer
- Video Player

Both of these are available on the Market for free download. You may already have one that you prefer.

A typical video will have the following specifications, although some may vary in size etc. :

Filesize: 250MB
Codec: MPEG-4/H.264
Resolution: 480x320

Don't be fooled by the file size, the videos are in extremely good quality.

Wow. I was going to delete this forum yesterday and chalk it up as a bad idea. Good thing I didnt. Cant wait for it to get big enough so that I can find all of my DVD's here and not have to worry about the hassle of reconverting.
